Poultry Market Update for the week of 8/1

· End of the month blues would describe the current conditions in the poultry industry. Hot weather is still controlling the supply side for now, but cooler weather may be on its way to some of the poultry states.
· Dark meat seems to be more in demand currently, exports are the biggest driver, which in turn is limiting leg meat and thigh meat production in favor of hindquarters. August export contracts are well above month prior pricing. Fresh thigh meat pulls are back in demand, which has limited frozen inventories.
· Tenders are very hard to find, wings are in great shape.
· B/I breast have bottomed out and should also start moving upward.
· Bnls breast could take a breather here for this week, as first of the month ads are a little scarce.
· Lately it has been second week retail ads which produce more volume, so next week ships for the following week delivery could start the upward trend again.
· Hot weather and cut backs which are filtering in will be the big wild cards going forward, but the overall trend will be up.
