Poultry Market Update

· Weather is HOT in the Southeast this week and could continue into the next.

· Bird weights are down and demand has picked up somewhat.

· Beef and pork prices are high, so chicken is in the retail spotlight.

· Dark meat is still a little shaky, but has improved from last week. Thigh meat is finding bottom and should level out soon.

· Wings are in great shape and on the rise.

· Cut backs are slowly kicking in, and I expect white meat will improve very soon.

· Fresh and frozen breast should start moving up, a little at first and then by August maybe a lot?

· Thigh meat should bottom in the next two weeks.

· Tenders may rebound quicker than breast meat, but the trend on all cut outs should be up over the next 6-8 weeks.

· Corn prices are trending back up, and the industry is still in turmoil as losses pile up.
